This year marks the Commissioning of RCLI’s 11th Class. The RCLI ’18 Class will be Commissioned Saturday, June 9 at 9:30am. Hosted at Third Church, this event is a special opportunity for the Class to celebrate the completion of the program with their friends and families. Similarly, the Commissioning offers the opportunity for RCLI Alumni to be reminded of their experiences and reflect on how that experience has impacted them. In short, it is a reflective and celebratory event, and we encourage all RCLI friends and Alumni to attend!
We are honored to have Dr. James Anderson of Chesterfield Family Practice as our keynote speaker this year. Dr. Anderson came to Richmond by way of Newport News, where he was born. He has been Board Certified in both Family Practice and Emergency Medicine for more than 30 years, after having earned his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Virginia.
James’ Christian community work has been extensive on both the personal and organizational levels. He serves with or has served with Virginia Physicians for the Unborn Child, the Family Policy Council, the Richmond Christian Medical & Dental Association, and U-Turn, among others. The focus of his broader community work has been on connecting churches across Richmond, including through the creation and work of Bless RVA. He holds to the firm belief that every church’s greatest cheerleaders should be the churches that surround it. He has also been a committed friend of RCLI–serving as a presenter to many Classes, praying for the organization regularly, and supporting its mission.
James served in the US Army Reserve Medical Corps with the rank of Colonel and has undertaken numerous active duty assignments, including in Iraq and Afghanistan. He and his wife Dodie have been married for forty-three years, are members of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, and are the parents of four adult children and nine grandchildren.
